At approximately 0520 hours, MSP Aviation Trooper 7 was returning from PG Hospital when they came across a fire just north of the Firehouse. At 0520 hours Station 7, Station 1, Station 9, Station 3, and EMS Station 79 were dispatched to the area north of the Firehouse for a possible Barn Fire. Chief 7, Engine 72, and Engine 74 responded on the call with 10 volunteers. Along with the fire units. some police units were also in the area attempting to locate the fire. An MSP officer found the fire just in on Jones Wharf Rd and advised fire communications of the same. Chief 7 was first to arrive at 0529 hours reporting a 20X30 barn fully involved and on the ground. Engine 72 proceeded back to the scene and stretched several lines to the fire. Engine 74, Engine 14, Engine 33, and Engine 24 supplied the fire ground with Water Supply 5 handling the water supply. The crews from all the companies worked together to knock down the bulk of the fire within 30 minutes. Command held all the units on the scene for 2 hours assisting with fire extinguishment and overhaul. Units from Station 7 remained on the scene until 0745 hours and Command was held by Chief 7 (Brady). The State Fire Marshall is investigating the incident and Engine 61 handled the fill in at Station 7 during the incident.
