Units from all the Stations marked up responding including Engine 72, Truck 7, and Chief 7 with 12 volunteers. With this additional information Chief 3 requested a second alarm (Station 83, Station 6, Station 1, and Truck 83) to respond on the assignment bringing Engine 73 with an additional 5 volunteers on the call. Engine 92 arrived on the scene with fire showing from side Delta of the structure and a second house as an exposure problem. Engine 72 arrived shortly after taken their own hydrant on Side "A" of the structure. The crew of Engine 72 was assigned to conduct a secondary search of the residence which proved to have negative results. Truck 7 arrived and was assigned RIT duties along with Engine 73. The Truck crew also threw ladders, opened up on the Delta side for the Engine Companies and secured power to the structure. The Engine crews made quick work of the fire that started on the outside of the structure on a back deck and contain the fire to the outside of the residence. With the fire contained to the outside of the structure, Command held the units from Stations 9, 3, and 7. Once the fire was placed under control, the Crew of Engine 73 checked the exposure residence for extension with nothing found. Company 7 operated on the scene for approximately an hour before returning to service. Chief 3 (Gould) held the Hickory Hills Command and the fire is believed to be started from a gas grill on the deck.
