Rescue Squad 7 Responds To Back To Back MVC’s In Leonardtown

At approximately 1315 hours Friday, 13 January 2023, Rescue Squad 7 was dispatched to the 22500 block of Newtowne Neck Road for a collision with entrapment. Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7A (Rector) responded with 10 Volunteers shortly after dispatch. Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department Chief 1 (C. Bell) arrived on the scene confirming a T-Bone style collision with one trapped. Chief 1 (C. Bell) established the Command and requested Aviation for transport of a Trauma patient. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene with the crew assisting with the extrication. The patient was extricated within 15 minutes of arrival. The patient was turned over to EMS and transported by Maryland State Police - Aviation Command Trooper 7 to the Trauma Center. A second patient was transported by ground to St. Mary's Hospital. Rescue Squad 7 cleared the scene at 1346 hours.

As Rescue Squad 7 was clearing the scene of the first collision, St. Mary's Communications dispatched a collision in the 26800 block of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown that was reported head-on. Rescue Squad 7, Chief 7 (Rogers) and Chief 7A (Rector) all responded to this second collision. Units arrived on the scene to find a two vehicle collision and checked for injuries and entrapment. Crews found minor injuries and no entrapment. Rescue Squad 7 remained on the scene for a short time before returning to service. One patient was transported to the hospital for evaluation by EMS. Rescue Squad 7 returned to quarters at 1411 hours.
