53rd Annual Installation of Officers

On Saturday Night member were able to celebrate the 53rd Annual Installation of Officers. The Installation was kicked off first with a great dinner catered by Bailey's. Once dinner was completed the ladies started off the night by installing the Auxiliary Officers.

Once all the Officers were installed, the Presidents and Chiefs gave Remarks and Presentations. The first award of the night that was given out was the Gold Medal of Valor Award. This is the Highest award given to any members in the fire service. The award was given to Captain Jim Lloyd, Leonardtown Assistant Chief Tommy Mattingly, and Seventh District Captain Chris Mattingly for the actions they took on May 20, 2009 to rescue a trapped occupant of a house fire in Fenwick Manor. Several other presentations and awards were handed out including the dedication of the new Ladder Truck to the 5 Charter Members still serving HVFD. The Presidents award was given to the entire membership for the hard work over the past year and the Chiefs award was given to Lt. Dale Ridgell for his assistance to the Fire Chiefs Office. The Top Runner, Top Driver, and Firefighter of the Year all went to Assistant Engineer Gene Talley for his outstanding job during the past year. The Rookie of the year went to Cody Spalding and was presented by Chief Albert and Assistant Chief Doug Insley. Numerous other awards were given out throughout the night to many members of the department.

The night ended up with DJ Charlie Thompson playing some music and having the members let loose on their one night of the year they have off. A good time was had by all and thanks to the Volunteers of HVFD for another great year.
